Raw With Love

I will remember the kisses
our lips raw with love
and how you gave me
everything you had
and how I
offered you what was left of
me,
and I will remember your small room
the feel of you
the light in the window
your records
your books
our morning coffee
our noons our nights
our bodies spilled together
sleeping
the tiny flowing currents
immediate and forever
your leg my leg
your arm my arm
your smile and the warmth
of you
who made me laugh
again.

  1. I liked this very much - the books and records are a nice touch. Read it to wife, she thought hard and said that it sounded very physical until the last line.

    1. If you look at Bukowski's poem you will see that the above is an extract - of my making - which spoke to me more than the uncut original. Madame Padre should feel equally free to jettison the last line if that works better for her.
