A few photos of the table with a Square Bashing game set up on it. This is near the end of the pre-battle sequence, but before the defenders (the Germans in this instance) carry out depletion and set up their hasty defences. My preference for games in the annexe are for them to last one night; I suspect that both the initial process and the calculation of victory points will take another complete evening each if one followed them as written.
From what I've read Square Bashing seems to be a really interesting set of rules. I don't have any figures for WWI so can't play myself, but will be looking forward to seeing your report.
ReplyDeleteThey read well. It seems to me that everything one would expect to see is in there - often abstracted because of the level of the game - but, precisely because it is a game, you can't do everything and have to choose. We shall see.

DeleteSplendid looking table! I await the battle report.
ReplyDeleteThank you, but don't hold your breath. It is my plan to have a run through solo, but I always say that and never do. I'm also going away, and so I'm going to stick to my original estimate of somewhere near the centenary of the Armistice.
DeleteSafe travels, and enjoy the game, whether you get to do a write up or not.
