You can knit a sweater by the fireside

"But at my back I always hear
Time’s wingèd chariot hurrying near;
And yonder all before us lie
Deserts of vast eternity."

- Andrew Marvell

It would have been Andrew Marvell's birthday today.

  1. Did Marvell write a poem comparing the order and layout of a formal garden to an army, or perhaps a siege? I'm sure I heard it on the radio years ago, but have never tracked it down..

    1. I suspect that you are thinking of 'Upon Appleton House'. I might return to this in a future blog post as there is a tenuous and tangential connection between the poem and me.
